Light athletics stars in Goleniów

This will be the largest sporting event ever organised in our city. The top level of the event is guaranteed by distinguished athletes from Poland and abroad. On Wednesday, 20th June at 17:00, BESTSELLER Goleniów Athletics Park 2018 starts.

Athletes compete in fifteen disciplines. We expect that the most spectacular contest is the 400 m female hurdle with Sara Petersen, Denmark (Olympic vice-champion and European champion), Meghan Beesley, Great Britain, and two best Polish runners Joanna Linkiewicz and Emilia Ankiewicz. The 2000 m steeplechase includes Krystian Zalewski (Rio Olympic Games, vice champion of Europe) who will attempt
to break the Poland’s record.

Undoubtedly, this is going to be the largest event in the latest history of Goleniów, said Mayor Robert Krupowicz. Our ambition is to include our event as a fixed item
in the calendar of prestigious sporting events in Poland. We have everything we need to succeed. We have the necessary infrastructure and unique people. Goleniów enjoys fabulous climate for running and light athletics. We are proud of our Olympic games athletes, such as Ewa Durska and Krystian Zalewski, talented Michał Rozmys and a number dedicated inhabitants who turned the city into one of major light athletics centres in the region.

Organizers of the event expect several thousand spectators. Before professionals, amateur athletes and our young people will compete with each other. Entrance
to the local stadium at 25 Sportowa Street will be free of charge. The commentator for the championship is Przemysław Babiarz, a renowned Polish sports commentator.
