Ukraine has much more to offer than excellent Kvass, a fermented rye bread beverage, which was served during a workshop on job opportunities for our eastern neighbours. The workshop was organised on 26th November
by the Municipality of Goleniów, Kostrzyn-Słubice Special Economic S.A. Zone and Audit Doradztwo Personalne Sp. z o.o.
Apart from a general opinion, employees from Ukraine do not take away jobs
from Poles at least for two reasons. Firstly, they take jobs and work in regimes
that are not well received by Polish employees, e.g. four shifts system. Secondly, Ukrainian employees have to be receive the same remuneration for their work
as Polish employees, so it is not true that Ukrainians do the same work for lower salary and thus distort the Polish labour market.
The free workshop for employers based in Goleniów were run by labour market experts, such as Violetta Panasiuk-Strzyżewska and Katarzyna Skrzypińska-Krata. Tomasz Jeziorowski, HR Director at TPV Displays Polska Sp. z o.o., employing
about 2 thousand people of which 10% are from Ukraine, was a special guest
of the workshop.
It is estimated that in Goleniów we have several hundred people from Ukraine. Although formalities related to employment are now much shorter, in comparison with other regions, West Pomerania received considerably smaller percentage
of employees from the east. Therefore, we should be prepared to hear Ukrainian spoken in the streets increasingly often.
